My Easy To Recreate Birthday Card

My mother-in-law's birthday is just around the corner. I grabbed my scrapbooking supplies and got to work creating a birthday card just for her. I have seen many handmade cards on-line and on Pinterest using white card stock. I have always used a dark card stock as my focus color. This time, I wanted to try something a little different. Shake it up a little, so to say. I was pleased with my end result.

I gathered together the colors of card stock and supplies that I wanted to use.

I chose a pretty, burgundy color card stock for the background color. I used white as my main focus color. I gathered together the stamps I wanted to use on the card. I wanted to use the wheelbarrow stamp, but the words on the stamp were not what I wanted printed on the card. I used scotch tape, covered the wording, pressed the stamp in the ink, and took the tape off. I was then able to use this stamp, creating my desired look for the card.

I glued everything together. Then, I used colored Sharpie pens to color in the flowers and little bird. I hand drew some decorative swirls in the corners. The card was finished and ready to send in the mail.

I liked the fresh look of the card using white card stock.

Sewing My Own Owl Stuffy

I pulled out my sewing machine after this long winter and created an owl stuffy.

I was looking through Jo~Ann Fabrics mail flyer and spotted this pattern on one of the pages. They were having a sale on Simplicity patterns. All Simplicity patterns were $1.99. I picked up this pattern and another pattern I will show you later. I kick myself in the rear that I did not pick up more for that price!

I cut out the body of the owl. I was surprised at the size of the owl stuffy.

I used embroidery floss and felt to hand sew on the face of the owl.

This is how my owl looked just after the face was applied. And just before I started piecing him together.

The most difficult aspect of the pattern was stuffing the arms and legs into the body of the owl as you sewed around the edge of the owl body.

Here is my finished owl. I am quite happy with the results. It has been awhile since I actually created something using a pattern. I have created blankets and scarves. I wanted to create something with more of a challenge. I love how he turned out!

This poor little fellow does not have a name yet. Help me name this sleepy little stuffy! Leave your ideas in the comments below.

The Tuesday Inquiry

Thank you everyone, so much, for your comments on last weeks, The Tuesday Inquiry. Last week's question: If you were walking down a street and you spotted a $100 bill laying on the ground and no one was around: Would you-

Pick it up and keep walking?
or

Leave it were it lays, thinking the owner will return looking for it?
or

Take it to the nearest police station and turn in the money
or

donate to charity?

The results are: 2 people would pick up the money - 1 person would take the money to the police station - and 2 people would donate the money to charity

Again, everyone thank you for your comments!

And now onto this week's- The Tuesday Inquiry

Do you brush your teeth before your morning coffee?

or

Do you brush your teeth after your morning coffee?

Leave your answers in the comments below and next week we will discover the results to this week's Tuesday Inquiry.

Everyday Life Photography

This week on Everyday Life Photography, The word of the week to photograph is purple.

This pretty purple camera case was created by my handsome husband. He bought a purple microfiber cloth. Cut it to fit my new camera. He, by hand, sewed it all together. He used a toggle string to draw the case closed around the camera.

My Dr. Bonner's Magic "All-One" Organic Lip Balm in the color Naked

Lastly, my fuzzy, warm, lounge pants. I thought I was able to store these away for the summer. Oh no, tonight 27 degrees. Where, oh where, is spring?

Everyone, thank you for reading.

Everyday Life Photography

Today, we are linking up any picture of of our blog for this week. I chose to link up my picture that I took on a recent outing.

I love this picture. I love the difference between the sky blue and the ice blue colors. I love the way the frozen water looks as though it is a wave on a lake. When, in reality, it is just a corn field.

I can not wait to see the pictures that you link up.

Maybe, Just Maybe, I Have A Green Thumb After All

This week, I happened to glance at a little plant that sits on an end table next to the couch, and this is what I saw.

A new, tiny leaf opening up on the plant.

This tiny plant is a new plant that I transplanted recently.
Here is a picture of this plant just after it was clipped from an existing plant in my home.

I had high hopes that this plant would survive, but from previous experiences, this new little transplant had a slim chance of making it. So, imagine my surprise, when I spotted a new little leaf opening up.
Let me explain. Always, and I mean always, when I introduced new plants into my home, I was extremely intent on taking care of them. I watered them, when I felt they needed watered. Which, in retrospect, was probably too often. I, then, watered them not enough and they withered away. Or, even worse, my ivy plants became encased in spider mite webs. So, into the trash these plants went.
Recently, with my new found interest in plants, and with high hopes, I have begun enlisting the aid of the internet and I use my planner to assist me in keeping the plants alive. Now, you ask me, "How in the world does your planner help you with the plants?" Well, in order to not over water or under water the plants, I write in my planner the day that the plants are watered, always on Mondays. I keep track of the plants watering schedules and look at my results. New leaves and the plants from Lowes that did not look the best are still green. In fact, the little fern that I moved into the bathroom, has new, tiny shoots sprouting up in the middle of the plant.

My fingers are still crossed for the plants. I am enjoying how pretty these little green plants brighten up my home.
